A Global Endeavor to Communicate Fire Knowledge

Fire Preventionists

Those who manage fire risk of certain buildings within their jurisdiction.

The Fire Preventionist generally works with the existing building inventory of a jurisdiction. The title for this job has lots of names as determined by the various institutions and organizations s/he works for. The basic task is to manage the jurisdiction so it remains at its current Fire Risk level or lower.

While some Fire Marshals are restricted as to the buildings they can work with, others limit their work to larger buildings. Some are now beginning to paint the fire risk picture so the building owner begins to want improment beyond the "Code". Some are charging for this extra work.
